Season 1 Brazil Gallery
The first diamonds in Lençóis, Brazil were discovered in 1822. Miners from all over Brazil came to find their fortunes. The French even established a vice-consulate in the city during the height of the diamond boom when they were purchasing and using diamonds to drill the Panama Canal and the London Underground. The boom ended at the start of the 20th century, but diamonds can still be found in the region. Here's Carlos, a diamond cutter we interviewed in Lençóis this week.
