GALENA - Huanzala, Peru

Galena is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide and is soft with a hardness of only 2.5-2.75 on the Mohs hardness scale. It has a cubic mineral form but often shows octahedral forms. Galena is the most important ore of lead and also an important source of silver. It is often associated with calcite, flourite and sphalerite and sometimes with pyrite and quartz.
